EOT Crane CT Drive Floating Shaft Calculator
Based on IS 3177 / IS 807 design principles for combined torsion and bending.
1. Input Parameters
Note: Permissible stresses (τ_p, σ_b_p) depend on the shaft material (e.g., C45 steel) and the crane's Mechanism Class (M1-M8) as per IS 807, Table 4. The defaults (67, 112) are typical for C45 / St 60 in Class 2.
2. Initial Sizing Results (Torsion Only)
This is the minimum diameter required to handle the motor's twisting force. Now, we must check if this diameter is safe when considering the bending from its own weight over the long span.
3. Combined Stress Safety Check
Enter your proposed shaft diameter. This should be equal to or (more likely) larger than the minimum diameter calculated above. Round up to a standard available size.
